Poetry Slam 9: United We Slam: Lifting Our Voices to Change the World

We are looking for young poets and writers ages 7 -14 to share their thoughts, lyrics, and word wisdom with family, friends, and language lovers on Saturday, July 20th at 12:30pm. Every partcipating young poet gets 3 minutes to spit, spout, and spellbind with their poetry at our Poetry Slam with Hope Anita Smith. Calling all poets Ages 7 to 14 !! We are bringing back the CBW Poetry Slam. If you have a desire to perform your poem please sign up. This year each performing poet will receive a $10.00 gift certificate and our selected poet laureate will receive an additional $25 gift certificate. Sign up early to guarantee your spot. Remember you are free to compose and perform any kind of poem you like.

Our 9th Poetry Slam is a celebration of the spoken word and the power of a poet's voice to change the world. We are looking for young poets ages 7 to 14, ready to let their voices sing and their words fly with verses of creative change, human experience, and bright ideas. Each poet will get approximately three minutes to recite or rap a poem or lyric they've written. We will select a poet laureate judged on poem content and performance to receive a $25 Children's Book World gift certificate and all participating poets will receive a $10 gift certificate. Our resident poetry judge, host, and mentor, two time Coretta Scott King Award winning author and poet laureate Hope Anita Smith, will be available for writing and performing tips to the participating poets.
